On a very cold morning with flat, grey light we set off on the National Trust’s “Fulking Archaeology Walk”. Just a short way from the Car Park we visited a “ruined brick structure”. We then headed west along the South Downs way before turning south-west, visiting an abandoned farm. We then returned to the South Downs trail and went west, to the mound of Edburton motte and bailey castle.
After a lap of the Motte and Bailey, we returned to the Devil’s Dyke Car Park.
It was a very cold and challenging day. Here are a few of our efforts. Click on any of these to see a larger version.
