Competition Rules

General Rules

  • Only Club members can take part in Competitions.
  • A member can submit a maximum of three images to each competition (PDI or Print).
  • An image can only be submitted to one competition. The exception is for the “Best Image of the Year” competition, where images entered previously, during this season, may be used.
  • The deadline for submission of all digital entries is by midnight on the Thursday before the competition. Printed Images can be handed to another Club Member or brought along on the night (Note: There needs to be sufficient time to set out the images without the Judge being able to identify the competitor, so arrive early!).

If you are unsure, please ask the Competitions Secretary or another member of the Committee.

Scoring Merit Competitions:

The Judge awards a score out of 20 for each image, and will choose an image as ‘Best in Class’ for each class. From these the judge will choose the ‘Best in Competition’.
If an image is chosen as ‘Best in Class’, it is given one bonus point. The image chosen as ‘Best in Competition’ is given another bonus point.
If a member has entered three images, only the highest two are counted to give the total score for the Competition.
For example: A member submits three images, which are awarded 18, 15, and 20 points. The image scoring 20 points is also awarded ‘Best in Class’, so one bonus point making 21. The member’s score for the Competition is 39 (18 + 21).

Scoring Annual Set Subject and Best Image of the Year Competitions:

The Judge awards a score out of 20 for each image, and is asked to choose an image as ‘Best in Competition’ / ‘Best in Year’.
