Annual PDI Merit Competition – Judge:  Tony Baverstock

We had great pleasure in welcoming Tony Baverstock back to the club to judge our last competition for this season. This competition has five categories: Landscape, Nature, General, Monochrome, and Portrait and gives members another chance to see some amazing images, mostly having been submitted in previous competitions. There were 65 entries over a wide variety of topics, which gave Tony the opportunity to convey constructive comments on composition, diagonals, texture, exposure, focussing, monochrome effects, depth of field, etc. and I am sure members gained more insight into enhancing their own photography. Thank you Tony for a very informative evening.

The results of the evening are:

Best Landscape and Best in Competition: Karen Birch – Autumn Dwelling

Best Nature and Runner Up: Mike Doyle – European Crane

Best General: Kathie Bignall – Autumn Glow

Best Monochrome: David Burton – Waiting for the Tide

Best Portrait: Mike Doyle – Rajinder

Grateful thanks also go to the Committee for ensuring another successful competition, especially Liz and Vince for keeping scores, and Rob for collating and presenting the images. Last, but definitely not least, grateful thanks also go to our members for ensuring our club continues to thrive during these very difficult times. Although ‘zoom’ meetings seemed to be a very daunting task initially, this has proven to be very successful and ensures the future of our club.

Thank you.
