Workshop – Editing and Introduction

By | 8th January 2025

Tuesday 7 January 2025

This evening was a practical session run by Kevin to cover why you should edit your images and what is possible.

Kevin emphasised that the evening wasn’t about promotion of Snapseed, but that it did what all editors do, is free and available on all Smartphones and Tablets.

The evening started with a review of why editing our images is a perfectly appropriate activity and has been done since the start of photography.

The first practical session was to perform some basic editing of an image, straightening and cropping an image first, then making adjustments to exposure. This was followed by a short example demonstrating selective editing, choosing an area or using a brush. We also saw Snapseed’s healing capability, (which is extremely limited).

After the break we reviewed more advanced editing techniques using Layers and Masks.

The evening concluded with a brief description of Opacity and Blending modes, the creative use of such tools and some more creative Composite photographers.
