14th September 2021
Worthing Camera Club held its ‘Welcome’ zoom evening of the new season and it was great to see so many old faces, as well as some new members. Vince, our Club Secretary, opened the evening by giving a warm welcome to everyone and then proceeded to give an overview of the Committee generally and how it supports our club. Each Committee member then introduced themselves and explained their roles and responsibilities.
Rob, our PDI Competition Secretary, gave us a great presentation showing previous competition images and it was such an inspiration to see what our club members had achieved. Hopefully this will give us all encouragement to get those cameras out once again.
This was also an opportunity for new members to introduce themselves and give a brief background of their own photographic journey so far. We are very pleased to welcome our new members and are sure they will bring their own experiences to the club, as well as learning some new ideas and techniques.
We then had open discussions where everyone was encouraged to ask any questions about the Committee and how the club is organised. Some members asked when we would be returning to our usual venue at the Quaker’s Meeting Hall, however it was explained that we are still in a Pandemic, as well as the flu season just around the corner, and unfortunately our venue is not suitable to implement social distancing. Whilst we would really like to return to face to face meetings, we have to ensure the safety of our members at all times and it is hoped that everyone will be understanding during these difficult times. However, this decision is constantly under review, and if there are any changes to these arrangements members will be notified in the usual way via the ‘groups.io’ e-mail.
Since the meeting we have had some very positive feedback from existing and new members, and the Committee would welcome any suggestions for future topics that they would like to see included in the programme from January 2022.
We would like to thank everyone for their continued support, and please see the ‘Programme’ and ‘Coming Up’ pages for an overview of the new programme from September to December 2021.
