We were treated to a resume of Pietro’s journey through photography to date.
It started with film and slides and Pietro showed a number of his earliest images, for which he was commended. These included long exposure and double exposure (created by sandwiching two slides together). When Pietro retired from the NHS he decided to do a full time Fine Arts degree in photography, with the University of Portsmouth. We were taken on his journey through the degree and graduation. Covering such diverse subjects as documentary photography, studio work, a project on capturing women in pregnancy, another on eyesores around Portsmouth and one on his life to date. The latter featuring many poignant images of objects that represent a lot to Pietro and his family.
Following his Degree, Pietro went on to get a Distinction from the Photographic Society of Great Britain and most recently he published a book on his lockdown experience on Hayling Island. This book has been well received and it has sold out.
