Welcome Back Meeting
After a busy summer of outings, festivals, and photo opportunities, Worthing Camera Club welcomed members back for the start of the 2025/26 season.
Why Join a Camera Club?
Photography can sometimes feel like a solitary pursuit, but being part of the club turns it into a shared journey. Members benefit from:
-
Skill Development – through structured learning, constructive feedback, and exposure to different styles.
-
Community – a place to connect with like-minded photographers, collaborate, and overcome isolation.
-
Motivation – with challenges, competitions, and inspiration from fellow members.
-
Resources – guest speakers, photowalks, and access to new ideas and equipment.
-
Personal Growth – building confidence, sharing knowledge, and developing both technically and creatively.
Highlights from the Summer
Members got involved in a range of activities, including Brighton Street Art, the Worthing Festival Fringe, the Steyning Town Trail, Knepp Estate, and more. From vibrant street scenes to the serenity of nature, these outings provided plenty of inspiration.
The Start of the 2025/26 Programme
The new season begins with a packed programme (see Programme for more information), including:
-
Workshops on exposure, composition, editing, printing, and classic genres such as still life and portraiture.
-
Creative Group Sessions where members will be able to experiment with playful post-processing techniques, from compositing and blending modes to creative effects like Droste, Adamsky, and 3D pop-outs.
- Coffee Mornings more details to follow shortly
-
Competitions – 12 have been scheduled so far, beginning with the first PDI Merit Competition on 30th September. Monthly newsletters and new initiatives are going to be introduced to encourage more entries in the print competitions.
Tools and Learning
Members were also shown a wide range of editing tools—both free and paid—including Photoshop, Affinity, GIMP, Snapseed, and Photopea, helping everyone find the right fit for their style and workflow.
Final Thought
Whether starting out or already experienced, members will find plenty of opportunities to learn, share, and create. Photography has proved to be more than just capturing images—it was about seeing differently, telling stories, and connecting with others who share the same passion.
The season got off to an inspiring start, setting the tone for a year of creativity and collaboration.
