Last night saw the return of our PDI competitions, with members competing in our first Projected Digital Image competition of the new season.
Our Merit competitions give members the chance to compete within their own experience groups – Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced – and there was certainly no shortage of images to judge.
- Beginner Class: 30 images
- Intermediate Class: 30 images
- Advanced Class: 24 images
- Total: 84 images
With 84 photographs to get through, we were very pleased to welcome Andy Weatherburn as our judge for the evening. Andy had the unenviable task of looking closely at every image, but he took his time and provided thoughtful and constructive comments throughout all three classes.
That feedback is one of the most valuable parts of our competitions. Whether an image scores highly or not, Andy’s comments gives its author something to consider, there is always something to learn – and Andy gave our members plenty to think about.
After judging each class, Andy selected a class winner:
- Beginners: Bob Tutt – Shared Moment
- Intermediate: Marion Sweeney – Girl in a Box
- Advanced: Russell Field – The Cyclist
Andy then had the difficult job of selecting his Overall Winner from the three class winners. This went to Bob Tutt for Shared Moment.
Congratulations to Bob, Marion and Russell, and to everyone who entered. A competition isn’t just about the winners – 84 images on the screen made for a varied and enjoyable evening of photography.
And finally, a big thank you to Andy Weatherburn for giving his time and for the care he put into judging and commenting on every image.
