Competition – Annual Mix and Match Competition

We hosted the Annual Mix and Match Competition on Tuesday night, welcoming teams from Southwick and Steyning Camera Clubs for an enjoyable and competitive evening of photography.

Mix and Match is a lively and strategic format that tests teamwork and interpretation. Teams take it in turn to challenge their opponents by presenting an image. The other clubs must then select an image from their own collection that they feel best matches the challenge image. A successful match scores one point, while the challenging team earns one point for each team that fails to match. This continues for a total of 42 rounds. The result is an entertaining blend of creativity, “discussion” and tactical decision-making.

There was plenty of debate throughout the evening, as each team weighed composition, subject matter and mood in their attempts to make the strongest possible matches. The competition remained close and good-natured from start to finish.

Our judge for the night was Paul O’Toole from Littlehampton Camera Club, who guided the proceedings. His observations helped keep the evening flowing, added some fun insights into the judging decisions and he welcomed input from the audience. We thank Paul for giving his time and expertise.

At the end of a closely fought contest, the final scores were:

  • Worthing – 30 points

  • Southwick – 28 points

  • Steyning – 26 points

We were of course delighted to have won, but congratulations also Southwick and Steyning for a thoroughly enjoyable and competitive evening. Our thanks to everyone involved in making it such a successful event.
