Last night we were delighted to welcome Eddie Lord of Crawley Down Camera Club as the judge for this season’s Set Subject competition.
The theme, “The Beauty of Everyday Life”, invited members to look beyond the obvious and capture the quiet, often overlooked moments that make up our daily experiences. From simple street scenes to intimate portraits and fleeting moments in nature, the brief challenged photographers to reveal the extraordinary within the ordinary.
The Set Subject Competition is an Open one, where we do not compete within our classes. The competition attracted a strong entry, and the overall standard was once again impressively high, providing Eddie with a demanding but enjoyable task.
Eddie provided objective critics of each image, engaging with both the intent of the theme and the individual interpretations presented and offering words of advice on how each might be improved.
After much consideration, Eddie selected his awards as follows:
-
Best in Competition: John Nalaskowski with “Nature’s Jewels”
-
Second Place: Nikki Clarke with “Embracing the British weather”
-
Third Place: Laurie Dean with “Watching the rain”
Our thanks go to Eddie Lord for giving his time so generously and for delivering an engaging and informative evening of judging.
