Speaker – Andrew McCarthy FRPS “Composition in Nature Photography”

Andrew McCarthy returns and he explores the art and craft of composition in nature photography. Strong composition is often what transforms a good image into a memorable one, helping photographs capture attention and communicate more effectively.

Drawing on practical examples from the natural world, Andrew will examine key compositional principles, including subject placement and scale, the role of backgrounds in shaping impact, and the use of lines, curves, patterns, and visual balance to create harmony, tension, and depth. He will also share practical techniques for recognising and applying these elements in the field, enabling photographers to make confident compositional decisions and create more engaging, visually powerful images.
