This talk by Joe provided a comprehensive overview of “long exposure photography”, covering various techniques, equipment, and approaches.
Joe is an Assistant Professor and Programme Director , a Senior Trainer, Chair of the Board at Shine, Managing Director of Houghton Consulting and Owner of Houghton Photography. He offers personal 1-1 tuition, longer-term mentoring/development, workshops and talks to camera clubs.
Joe started with some anecdotes about how he got into photography and more specifically Long Exposure photography.
He covered all of the core Long Exposure genres of photography (for example: Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), Short exposures of a few seconds, as well as very long exposures 12 minutes and more.
Joe’s talk included practical advice on the technical aspects and gear required for long exposure photography, as well as post processing techniques; including finding long exposure images quickly in Lightroom and editing multiple light trail images in Photoshop.
Throughout the talk, Joe demonstrated the results of these in camera and post processing techniques in a diverse collection of images, including many from his home City of Dublin.
