Speaker – Paul David Kemp “A Portrait of Worthing”

What truly defines a town? Is it the architecture or the people who walk its streets? In this talk, local photographer Paul David Kemp shares his ongoing project “A Portrait of Worthing”. Documenting the “intricate tapestry” of our town.
Drawing inspiration from the great humanist traditions of Walker Evans and the Mass Observation Project, Paul uses both analogue and digital photography to unveil the layers of Worthing’s history, culture, and contemporary challenges. For Paul, this project is more than just documentation; it is a personal search for belonging. By retracing generational roots that stretch back to the 1940s, he uses his lens to bridge the gap between his family’s past and his new home.
