DESCRIPTION:Bosham harbour is nestled on the shores of Chichester Harbour and offers a perfect setting for a relaxed outing. With its charming tidal waterfront\, historic cottages\, and sweeping coastal views. \nThe village is steeped in history\, most notably through the beautiful Holy Trinity Church\, parts of which date back over a thousand years and are thought to be depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry. High tide will be at 10:52 and brings the water right up to the edge of the village\, creating striking photographic opportunities. \nMembers are encouraged to explore the quay\, wander the narrow lanes\, and take in views across the harbour toward Chichester Harbour. SUMMARY:Workshop - Critique Evening
DESCRIPTION:A Critique Night offers members the opportunity to share their photographic work in a supportive\, small-group setting\, focused on constructive feedback and collaborative learning. You are invited to bring a small selection of images (prints or digital files) to present to the group. \nWe are divided into smaller groups to encourage open discussion and ensure each image receives thoughtful attention. Each image is viewed in turn\, with the author given the option to introduce their image and outline any specific areas where feedback is sought. \nDiscussion is guided by principles of respectful and constructive critique. Members are encouraged to highlight strengths\, explore compositional and technical aspects\, and suggest possible improvements or alternative approaches. The emphasis is on learning\, inspiration\, and the sharing of ideas rather than formal judging. \nCritique Nights are suitable for photographers of all levels\, offering a relaxed and engaging environment to develop skills\, gain fresh perspectives\, and build confidence in presenting and discussing photographic work.

Janina shares practical guidance on camera settings and creative approaches\, while encouraging photographers to experiment\, play\, and trust their instincts. With a rich selection of images and behind-the-scenes insights\, the talk is suitable for photographers of all levels who want to push their creativity and explore new ways of working. \nJanina Wilde is an award-winning educator with over 25 years of experience in education and seven years specialising in multiple exposure photography. DESCRIPTION:In anticipation of the South Downs Astrophotography Competition (usual closing date mid-January) we will be going out to capture some night sky images. \n  \nAs a reminder last year’s competition had the following categories (so no excuses for any member not to attend). \nSouth Downs Dark Skyscapes – Capture a dramatic star-studded or moon-lit photograph of the landscape showing the cosmos above it. Photographs of the “Northern Lights” are also very welcome. \nSouth Downs Life at Night – Capture an amazing shot of living things in the National Park. This can include wildlife\, people\, trees\, plants or fungi! It could be a picture of people stargazing or an evening or night-time community event (like a Camera Club Outing). \nFrom the South Downs to Deep Space – One for the serious galactic adventurer! Capture a breathtaking telescopic image showing constellations\, galaxies\, nebulas\, planets and more taken from within the South Downs National Park. \nThe Meteoric Mobile Phone Category – Capture a wonderful shot of the South Downs dark skies on your Smartphone. We’re looking for all kinds of night-time shots\, from selfies to landscapes\, buildings\, wildlife\, moons\, stars\, and group shots. See what your phone can capture.

DESCRIPTION:The group was inaugurated about 1950 by the Chichester Club\, hence Regnum\, holding an annual print competition the winning club receiving a shield donated by Charles Howard. A few years later when other clubs\, including Worthing had joined in\, a notable Worthing member\, Edmund F. H. Crouch\, donated a shield for the slide (now projected image) competitions.

SUMMARY:Speaker - JJ Waller "Street Photography"
DESCRIPTION:Known for his “beyond-the-postcard” depictions of British life\, Waller’s work is a vibrant\, often humorous\, and deeply human exploration of the people and places that define our coastal towns. \nJJ Waller is a British photographer who has made street photographs of Brighton\, his home town\, and other seaside towns. He is best known for his portraits of people in Brighton during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown – making around 100 informal portraits of people isolated in their homes during the period. \nWaller’s path to photography has been anything but conventional. A former Covent Garden street entertainer and “Unusualist\,” he brings a performer’s eye for timing and absurdity to his editorial work. During this talk\, JJ will share insights into his diverse projects\, from his iconic Lockdown Portraits (edited by Martin Parr)\, which captured the intimacy of life behind glass\, to his long-term documentation of Brighton\, Blackpool\, and Benidorm. \nRecently he collaborated with Martin Parr\, to produce “Beside the Sea\,” a world-first exhibition staged on the roofs of Brighton’s bus shelters\, designed to be viewed exclusively from the top deck of a bus. \nNon-members are welcome to join us.
