DESCRIPTION:Train to Brighton and then change for Hastings (if taking a car\, the journey is about 1.5 hours. Use “Rock a Nore” Car park). \nStart at “The Stade” and then go down to the fishing fleet on the shore. Return to Stade and then along to see the RNLI Boat Station\, the mini theme park and boating lake. Cross over to George Street. We will follow a short route around Hastings. \nThere is an option to take the West Hill Cliff Railway up from George Street and then go and look at the Castle ruins. DESCRIPTION:ZOOM ONLY. DO NOT GO TO THE HALL. \nIn this talk Tony will cover his cityscapes and other urban images\, as well as his creative work mainly involving multiple exposures. You can view his landscapes here and some of his award winning shots here. \nTony will share some tips and techniques\, as well as anecdotes about the locations and experiences of shooting the scenes. He will also cover some of his inspirations\, including Sandra Bartocha and Pep Ventosa. \nAs we go along Tony will discuss some important themes in these genres of photography\, such as when to convert to mono and when to go with colour. We will also look at when images benefit from the presence of people. \nThe talk is structured as follows: \n1. Introduction and gear used \n2. Urban landscapes\, from locations including Manchester\, London\, Italy and Portugal. Images include traditional cityscapes\, night shots and light trails\, and street photography. \n3. Creative images – multiple exposures and ICM shots of the urban environment\, some including people. \n​4. DESCRIPTION:A practical workshop exploring Chiaroscuro (an Italian term which translates as light-dark\, and refers to the balance and pattern of light and shade). \nSpecifically we will be exploring “Tenebrism” (‘dark\, gloomy\, mysterious’)\, also occasionally called “dramatic illumination”. \nThe Tenebrism form of Chiascuro is generally credited to Caravaggio\, although this technique was used by earlier artists.

DESCRIPTION:ZOOM ONLY. DO NOT GO TO THE HALL \nThird and final PDI Merit Competition of the season. \nMembers compete as Beginners\, Intermediate\, or Advanced photographers. Judges take this into account when awarding scores to the images. Separate Merit Tables are published for each of these three classes. \nAn image can only be used in one Merit Competition\, and can not be used in both a Merit and a Set Subject Competition. \nSee Competition Rules for more information.
