Annual Print Competition 2017
WCC Annual print Competition 2017
On the evening of 9th May 2017, Worthing Camera Club held their annual print competition. With a total entry of fifty images spread among the five categories – Nature, Monochrome, General, Portrait and Landscape – there was every guarantee of an interesting and very varied evening of photographic subjects to be enjoyed.
Our Judge for the evening, Catherine Jolley, was a newcomer to the club who soon settled into the routine of making thoughtful and usually constructive comments for each of the entries. I think it’s fair to say that most of the audience enjoyed her friendly and thoughtful style. Choosing winners from what were in general the best images produced by members during the year was no doubt a difficult assignment, but the judge eventually made her choice as follows:-
The prize for Best Print of the year and the Prize for runner-up went to Roger Barrett and Jean Harris respectively. Many congratulations to all the winners.
And in case you happened to miss the significance of the results, let me emphasise the headline here. Roger Barretts’ three entries each produced winners in the three categories they were entered in, and his NATURE image went on to take the slot of best print of the year.
Club members who’ve known Roger for a while may not be too surprised at the result. His success may quite possibly be due to the fact that he’s just . . . Good.
