3rd PDI Merit Competition – Judge: Rob de Ruiter

By | 5th March 2020

Members were very pleased to welcome judge Rob de Ruiter LRPS, and President of Bognor Regis Camera Club for our third PDI competition of the season. Rob gave a brief background to his judging experiences, which despite covering areas all over the Southern counties, was his first visit to Worthing Camera Club.

There were a total of 72 images in total made up of 24 from the Beginners group, 18 from the Intermediate Group, and 30 from the Advanced Group, which were viewed in that order. Rob gave excellent critique, constructive and encouraging ideas, and suggestions on light, position, and composition, which was very well received by everyone. Rob also spoke to each group winner to discover a little more about their images and how they were achieved, which was extremely helpful.

Thank you Rob for giving such an enjoyable and informative evening, and we hope to see you return to Worthing Camera Club in the future.

The best of the evening was ‘Amazing Sunrise’ by Mirza Khurrum Baig

The winners in each category were as follows:

Beginner: Karen Birch – ‘Light Swirls’

Intermediate: Matt Frost – ‘Uncut’

Advanced: Mirza Khurrum Baig – ‘Amazing Sunrise’

All the results from the night can be found on the ‘Competitions’ tab/Results 2019/20.

Grateful thanks also go to Rob for compiling and projecting so many images, and Gerry Slack for announcing each image as presented. Thanks also go to the unsung heroes of the evening for setting up the room, serving refreshments, and for clearing up afterwards.
