3rd Merit Print Results
WCC 3rd Merit Print Competition
On the evening of 28th February 2017, Worthing Camera Club held their third Merit Print competition. With a total of 59 entries across the three categories (Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced) the judge, Trevor Gellard, had a reasonable amount of time to spend on each of the entries and gave interesting and helpful comments for every one.
In the Beginners group, Khurrum Mirza swept the board with his three entries, each of which was awarded the top mark of 20 points. These were :-
Khurrum Mirza, Shelves, Tent Top , Venice in the making
His entry ‘Venice in the making’ was awarded best in the group. Three top marks from three entries is quite an achievement (and well deserved). Many congratulations to Khurrum.
The Intermediate group were awarded a total of five top marks from 21 entries, including two for Jean Harris and two for David Burton. Winners here were:-
Dylan Snashall, 7.15 to Staalsund
David Burton , Harris hawk & Pheasant
Jean Harris, Smoked rose & Happy hour
Best entry in the group was awarded to Jean Harris for her ‘Smoked rose.’
The Advanced group, with an entry of 19 images, managed to capture eight top marks – and the congratulations of the judge for producing such high quality in a single competition. Three members here were each given two top awards.
Lee Milner, Found my reflection
Gerry Slack, Four birds and a fish
Roger Barrett, Window on Ghent & Breakfast cocktail
Maureen Martin, Feeling frazzled & Nigella seed heads
Keith Harris , Watching & Noah
After much consideration and comment, the eventual best in group went to Roger Barrett for his image ‘Breakfast cocktail.’ This entry was also awarded ‘Best of the evening’.
